How Verification Cleared the Way for Neutrl to Focus on Growth
Operating without verification infrastructure carries a cost that doesn’t show up on any balance sheet.
Every new LP conversation, due diligence process, or market stress event entails the overhead of manually proving financial health repeatedly and under time pressure, while the actual work of scaling the business gets pushed aside.
Neutrl decided to eliminate that friction before it ever started. They integrated Accountable’s verification infrastructure before the protocol went live, making live Proof of Solvency available to every LP and allocator from the beginning.
What Neutrl does and the verification challenge
Neutrl is a synthetic dollar protocol. Its token, NUSD, is backed by a portfolio of OTC-acquired assets, delta-neutral hedges, and liquid stablecoin reserves. The strategy involves multiple layers of exposure across different asset types and counterparties, making independent verification of the protocol’s health meaningfully more complex than verifying single-avenue reserves.
The specific challenge: LPs and allocators need visibility into reserves, collateral ratios, and exposures to properly assess risk, but exposing the full mechanics of a multi-layered portfolio would compromise the proprietary strategies that generate returns. Neutrl needed a way to prove their solvency and overcollateralization continuously without opening up the entire book.
Proof of Solvency
From launch, Neutrl integrated with Accountable with a Proof of Solvency dashboard powered by our Data Verification Network. The dashboard provides continuous cryptographic proof that NUSD’s reserves match its liabilities and that the protocol remains overcollateralized at all times.
What users and allocators can verify through the dashboard:
Reserves: real-time visibility into what backs NUSD, including a full breakdown of collateral reserves across custody locations and venues, each verified directly from the source
Collateral ratios: updated continuously, not through periodic attestations
Delta neutrality: verification that hedging positions are maintained
Stablecoin exposure: which stablecoins are used as collateral, verified in real time
Chain distribution: where minted NUSD sits across supported chains
The proprietary strategy mechanics stay private at all times, while the network proves the claims that matter for risk assessment.
This is possible because of the way the verification pipeline works: data is pulled directly from Neutrl’s underlying sources via a local node running on Neutrl’s end. That data never leaves a secure environment. It’s processed inside secure enclaves (tamper-proof hardware environments) and verified using zkTLS, which allows the network to cryptographically attest that data came from a legitimate source without exposing it.
No one, not Accountable or any intermediary, can access, store, or tamper with the underlying data. What reaches the public dashboard for consumption is the verified output.
Three market crises, same playbook
This is where the integration was tested under conditions no one could stage.
During three separate market-wide incidents in recent history, Neutrl used the Proof of Solvency dashboard as its primary crisis communication tool. The approach was the same each time: a market event raised concerns, and Neutrl directed capital allocators to the dashboard to verify the protocol’s status independently.
1. Resolv’s UST depeg: LPs verified Neutrl had no exposure to USE, wstUSR, or RLP.
2. Drift Protocol exploit: The dashboard confirmed no treasury assets, collateral, or strategy allocations were deployed through Drift.
3. KelpDAO rsETH incident: No direct exposure to rsETH or other KelpDAO assets, independently verifiable on the dashboard.
In all three cases, the dashboard replaced what would typically be a trust-based response, a statement from the team saying “we have no exposure…”, with cryptographic proofs that LPs could check themselves. Neutrl used a data-driven approach, guiding its community toward verifiable evidence rather than asking them to take the team’s word for it.
Results
$230M+ peak TVL: Neutrl grew from its pre-deposit phase to a peak above $230 million with Accountable’s verification layer in place from the start.
24/7 verification of reserves, liabilities, delta neutrality, and exposure.
9/10 Neutrl-reported impact score for both Accountable integrations.
Beyond the top-line numbers, several operational shifts also stood out:
The dashboard became a reference point in partner and LP conversations, enabling stakeholders to quickly assess financial health without relying on Neutrl’s own claims.
Institutional conversations shifted from addressing trust questions and thorough due diligence to discussing integrations and growth, a shift that Neutrl’s CMO, Taylan McRae-Yu, described directly:
“Instead of spending time addressing trust questions, conversations can now focus on integrations, risk parameters, and growth.”
Support queries related to transparency also decreased as users could self-serve verification through the dashboard rather than reaching out to the team.
What “day 1” transparency means
Most protocols integrate verification after they’ve already scaled, often in response to a specific trust event or market demand. Neutrl had it before launch, which meant every subsequent crisis became a demonstration of the system working as intended rather than a scramble to prove solvency after the fact.
The three market incidents are the clearest evidence of that. In each case, the verification infrastructure was already in place, already producing proofs, and already familiar to LPs. There was no lag between “something happened in the market” and “here’s where you can verify our status”; the dashboard was already the known resource.
“Integrating Accountable significantly strengthened trust in the protocol by providing users, LPs, and partners with continuous, verifiable transparency into Neutrl’s reserves.“
